Aim: To assist cooperative institutions to access new and innovative ideas of young professionals while the interns gain experience of working in the field to be self-reliant.

- Sahakar Mitra Scheme is an initiative of the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC).
How will it work?
- The scheme will provide an opportunity for professionals from academic institutions to develop leadership and entrepreneurial roles through cooperatives as Farmers Producers Organizations (FPO).
- Each intern will get financial support over a 4 months internship period.
Eligibility:
- Professional graduates in disciplines such as Agriculture and allied areas, IT, etc.
- Professionals who are pursuing or have completed their MBA degrees in Agri-business, Cooperation, Finance, International Trade, Forestry, Rural Development, Project Management, etc. are also eligible.
Outcome:
- It is expected to be a win-win situation both for cooperatives as well as for young professionals.
Functions
- FPOs help in the collectivization of such small, marginal, and landless farmers in order to give them the collective strength to deal with farming and marketing issues.
- Members of the FPO manage their activities together in the organization to get better access to technology, input, finance, and the market for faster enhancement of their income.
