QUESTION |
Case Study- Dinanath Chauhan is the leader of the Worker’s Union in ABC Corporation’s Manufacturing Unit. He is arrogant, troublesome, politically motivated, and highly feared by other workers.
There have been many instances where he and his goons have beaten up other workers for disobeying or voting against him and gotten away as nobody dares to report to the management.
You are the Floor Manager and have hired a young, energetic & fearless Inspection Assistant. It is his first job.
Your assistant is very strict and ensured the assembly line was never on pause. This meant higher Production & Revenue slightly improved in a few weeks time leading to a great appreciation for the assistant, rewards for workers & popularity amongst workers for your assistant.
One day a woman worker files a complaint to you accusing your assistant of harassing her while being drunk on duty. You have heard whispers that your assistant has been falsely accused by the woman after being forced & threatened by Dinanath who is irked by the assistant’s growing popularity & faith amongst workers.
You do not have any confirmed witness testifying or denying the accusation.
There has been pressure from the higher management to take immediate action. You being a sensible and mature manager would like to investigate the matter first.
How would you go about this investigation? What are the different scenarios/outcomes of the investigation possible here and how would you deal with those outcomes?
